Enjoy spending the summer together without breaking the bank. Turn off the video games, cell phones and iPad’s and create great memories together. According to USA Today (2009), families are spending less face-to-face time together. Ultimately it leads to less cohesive and less communicative families. Various studies may challenge the aforementioned statement; most importantly make family time a priority as often as you can.
The summer is here and many people are taking vacations; for some people it could mean a weekend getaway, a cruise, road-trip or a stay-cation. School is out and families are in full swing with their plans. Have you planned financially for an enjoyable summer with the kids, spouse or significant other? If you failed to plan properly it is not too late to do something fun. Be creative and get the kids involved; do the same with your spouse or significant other. Some fun things to do that won’t break the bank are:
1) Spend a day at the beach, lake or the park (pack a lunch, grab the beach or lawn chairs, beach towels and make a day of it).
2) Have a backyard barbecue and invite some friends over and have everyone to bring a covered dish.
3) Plan a movie night at home complete with popcorn, soda and candy (you choose)
4) Take a bike ride or walk together in the neighborhood, along the waterside or trail
5) Go sight-seeing
Whatever your idea of fun is, be creative and make it happen. How are you spending your summer? Please leave a comment or e-mail me at christineroebuck@livemylifedebtfree.com.
